Finley Derek Jr. comes from a family of teachers and professors. Every one of them attended an Ivy League school and left it passing with flying colours. It could be said that Finley was pushed into following in his proud family’s footsteps, but he was more than willing to do so. Not just so that he could continue to make them proud, but so that he could hopefully inspire students into gaining a passion for learning, just as his family had. Graduating from college, Finley went straight into teaching Science and soon found his way to Brunswick High. The school interested him because of the talented students that roamed the halls. He had the career he wanted but he couldn’t help but feel boring. He had no real talents like some of the students, he had just attended school his whole life, not thinking outside the box. He had no hobbies or real interests outside of science and he found himself envying the students around him. He cares about his students and treats them like his friends rather than just students. He is known for his humour and likes to add a bit of fun to his lesson, which makes him popular. Even though he is always making jokes, outside of the classroom he is extremely shy and keeps to himself. If there is one thing that Finley regrets, it’s that he didn’t make time away from his studies. He shut himself away for the majority of his life, meaning he has never really interacted with anyone other than his students, and especially not girls.
